Poem: Eye
As I've been posting a few prompts for ekphrastic poetry, I thought I'd share one of my own poems inspired by a painting. 'Eye' was written in response to Howard Hodgkin's 'Love Letter', which you can see here. I liked this image as a prompt because it is so open, so full of possibility, and a poem could move outwards from it without (I hope) undermining it. I wrote this a few years ago, and looking at it now, although I'd probably write a different poem today I still like it enough to share it.
